Cricut Christmas Door Card 12 Days of Christmas DAY THREE GIVE AWAY

The only thing missing in this photo are some packages of craft supplies at the doorstep. 😉

Today I used my Gypsy and the Cricut Christmas cartridge to create a welded door card.  I really like the way it turned out.  I cut it large enough to hold a gift card inside.  Let me show you some of the things I used.  Hey, that wreath is from a stamp in my All Around Sentiments set.

There’s my card when it’s not quite finished.  I used that BIC marker to color in the window panes over the door.  I’m on a “let’s find a way to use vellum every day” kick, so I was happy to find a real need for it in this project.  Coloring the vellum with the yellow BIC marker helped give the look of light shining through the transom.  I ran the door through my Cuttlebug using the Tim Holtz Bricked embossing folder.

Here’s a post I wrote about labeling embossing folders.  I always do that. 😉

One of the nice things about the BIC markers is that they can write on many surfaces, even glass!  That’s cool. 😀

SUPER FUN!  I stamped one of my All Around Sentiments stamps into that embossing ink.  I really like that brand.  It stays wet longer than some others I’ve used.  The reason that’s important is because it gives you a chance to pour embossing powder onto it.  When the image is damp the powder will stick.  In this photo I haven’t yet heated the image.  Next, I used a heat tool to warm the powder that is stuck to the image so it would melt.  After that I punched out the stamped images using 1″ and 1-1/2″ circle punches.  That’s how I made the wreath for the door! 😀

I decided to use the red “wreath” instead of the green one I made.  The green embossing powder didn’t match well with the rest of the door.  However, I was able to find a nice green from the BIC markers.  I used the marker to color all around the embossed sentiment.

Isn’t that little door knob fantastic?  I can’t believe the detail.  You can even see a little keyhole.  I used clear Stickles but they look golden when applied over the brown paper.

Here’s a post I wrote comparing different kinds of Stickles:  Distress, Glitz and Regular Stickles Compared.

Ok, time for a GIVEAWAY!

  11. I love it and it has given me a great idea. I have been giving Christmas Legend or Symbol ornament to friends for over 10 years, most that I make. This is a great idea for “Santa’s Magic Key”. I will just put a brad for the door knob and then cut the key from Gypsy Wanderings and tie it to the door knob. Of course I’ll make the key larger since it is the theme, but it is magic. Thanks for the idea, I’d better get busy, bye!
P.S. Are you sure you can’t extend this to 24 Days of Christmas?

LOL, before I could see the picture I was thinking it was a card that hung on the door, like a doorknob hanger! This turned out really cute. I have the BIC fine markers, just found them at wal-mart and haven’t used them yet, but I am still on the hunt for the ultra fine!
