Meet Joy

Let’s make something that feels good to make.

I’m Joy, and I’ve been sharing my creative corner of the world here at Joy’s Life since 2008. I started with Cricut and Silhouette projects, which led to creating my own line of polymer stamps and even a DVD that taught people how to use vinyl. It was a blast seeing my designs out in the world and knowing folks were making things they genuinely enjoyed. Later, I moved into sponsored content – lots of food and DIY – and that just drained my creative energy. Ever lost your crafty mojo? Same.

So, I stepped away for a bit and tried something new. I took a job outside the house and found myself in a part of Georgia I hadn’t spent much time in, and I fell in love with it. My husband did too. Next thing we knew, we were building a house and starting fresh. After 20 years (and raising three kids) in our old home, it was a big change, but exactly what we needed.

These days, I’m back to creating in a way that fits this slower, country pace – sewing, quilting, serging, embroidery, DIY projects, and sharing simple recipes and laid back drinks. It’s all about making things that feel good to make and easy to enjoy. If you’re into fabric, food, and creative ideas without the fuss, you’re in the right place. From fabric to food, y’all come create.

If it involves fabric, food, or fun … it belongs here

Joy’s Life is about creating things that make life a little cozier, tastier, and more creative.

Things I Love

A collection of favorites that have earned their keep, just like a good cast iron skillet.

  • Material I Can’t Resist Buying (Even When I Don’t Need It): Tim Holtz, Moda, Riley Blake, Lori Holt, Tula Pink – awww, man…so many
  • Favorite Snack: I’m so lame. I don’t snack and create. I drink a lot of flavored water though. I will work for donuts though.
  • Most Likely to Be Found Wearing: A cozy cardigan covered in thread or I’m still in my pajamas, don’t judge.
  • Dream Project: I don’t have one, but I do hope that I teach someone something creative that improves their lives somehow. A teacher did that for me when I was very young, and it changed me for the better.
