This post is brought to you by Core’dinations and Blueprint Social. The opinions are my own.
Hey everybody! This faux flocked Santa art is the simplest project I’ve ever done. You’re going to love how easy it is to get the velvety look of flocking and glitter without the mess!
First, grab a frame. I went with a frame with silver tones. Use whatever you like or have on hand.
This is almost the whole trick right here…get Core’dinations Glitter Prints inkjet printable glitter paper. They have it in both 8.5 x 11 and 4 x 6. It has a great, glittery texture and it’s glint and gleam are just what you need to make this project really pop!
Now, you could stop here and simply print out something you like and frame it. I want to take it one step further to get the flocked look though. We’re going to use the Silhouette Cameo.
If you need help with the Cameo, check out my tutorials. This one teach you how to fill images with color, this one will teach you how adjust, stretch and turn patterns.
I imported this Christmas scene from Silhouette. What makes it have a flocked look is importing a close up of fabric. You could buy something, but years ago I found these fabric images online and they’re what I’m using. If you want the red faux flocked Santa art like I created, use the “shirtorange.jpg” from this site. Next, print out the image directly onto the Core’dinations Glitter Prints glitter paper.
See? That’s so cool! I just used my standard settings for regular paper. Your printer setting may vary but it works with any inkjet printer!
What I find really impressive is that I printed this out and got a great print, the first time. I’m totally serious. Core’dinations Glitter Prints is unique because it is smooth glitter paper designed for printing with optimal color vibrancy. I used one sheet of the paper and it worked on the first try. This is good paper!
Doesn’t it look like flocked paper? Plus, it has such lovely glitter that doesn’t flake off. Yay to that!
Just think of all of the great ways you could use it to personalize gifts. I just love it! Easiest. Project. Ever.
Core’dinations Glitter Prints are available at Hobby Lobby and Michaels (under Michaels private label) and coming to Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts Stores and A.C. Moore in early 2016!
Have a rockin’ day and get your Santa art on!
Love this project but I can’t find the paper on line. Can you show a link where it can be found at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby.
Hi Jenni!
Right now Core’dinations Glitter Prints are available at Hobby Lobby and Michaels (under Michaels private label) and are coming to Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts Stores and A.C. Moore in early 2016. Here’s a link to it with a little more information http://bit.ly/GlitterPrints , but I see some of their images aren’t showing yet, probably because it’s so new. I’d say check Hobby Lobby and Michaels for it for sure! 🙂
Happy Crafting!
