Friends Owlways Faux Wood Crate
I previously shared this post on the Core’dinations blog.
How cute is this fun crate? It’s been a month since I originally shared this post on the Core’dinations blog and I want you to know that this crate is still kickin’! After the chocolates mysteriously disappeared, (How did that happen? A mystery for sure.), I put a napkin in the box and filled it with Skittles leftover from this project. Now whenever people visit me in the craft room, they grab some Skittles. Plus, I help the Skittles deplete too. This is why you should not keep candy where you work or craft. Nonetheless, the crate rocks! I made it using this file #66549 by Lori Whitlock and the Silhouette Cameo.
I used the Silhouette Cameo to cut out all the pieces for the 3D Wooden Crate from Core’dinations Tillie Dot Cardstock and Core’dinations Tim Holtz & Ranger Distress Collection Cardstock. These are the pieces that make up the box. I embossed the top layer pieces using the Darice Wood Grain embossing folder. The Core’dinations Tillie Dot cardstock makes up the main part of the box.
Yes, I am using the new Silhouette Cameo 2 now but I made this project before I got it. Learn about the Silhouette Cameo 2 on this post.
I used the Craftwell Cut ‘N’ Boss machine to emboss the woodgrain pieces. I love that woodgrain folder! Next, I used the Sand It Gadget and sanded the raised areas. It really brings out the texture!
Here are some other projects where I used the Cut ‘n’ Boss machine.
I used Zip Dry and the Xyron 2.5″ Sticker Maker to help me glue and assemble the pieces. I colored the edges of the paper using the Nougat Big Brush pen from Faber Castell.
I heat embossed the tag with a stamped sentiment. I’m using Versamark, a fine black embossing powder by Ranger and a stamp from the Joy’s Life Punny Animals Stamp Set.
Here’s a side view of that gorgeous paper! Don’t you love the way it embosses and looks after the Tille Dot is sanded?
I’m so glad I made this. I just need to fill it with celery sticks instead of candy. LOL!
Have a super day!
