Treat Box from Tags, Bags, Boxes & More

Again with the Teacher Appreciation Gifts…

It was 10pm when I remembered that tomorrow is give your teacher candy day for Teacher Appreciation week. This quick gift comes from the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More cartridge on pg. 131.  In hindsight, I could have used the blackout function so it didn’t have those little side handle areas, since I didn’t attach a handle or ribbon.

I almost never line the paper up with the left hand side of the mat, but in this case I’m glad that I did.  I made this treat box by using an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of Ruby Red cardstock from Stampin’ Up.  I lined it up with the left side of the Cricut mat and took the blade all the way to the beginning of the paper.  Then, I hit “Fit to Page”.  Sweet!!  It cut it out as big as it could cut it on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet.  Then I ended up with that rockin’ treat box.  I was so proud of myself (as you can tell).  I mean…that’s how you’re told to do it, but it’s like I made a scientific discovery or something.  Let me just take a moment to bask in the use of the left side of the mat and “Fit to Page”.  Ahhhh….AHHHHH….AHHHHHHH!!!  Again, that was sort of a take on the Ariel singing which I do sometimes.  😛

I ran this paper through my Sizzix Big Shot using the Sizzix Petals-A-Plenty Textured Impressions embossing folder by Stampin’ Up.  Then I scored and folded the treat box and glued it well with my ATG gun.  However…when I make another one, I’ll use only Zip Dry Paper Glue.  After putting this strong paper through such a heavily textured embossing folder it really weakened the paper.  Using an ATG on this caused me to tear the paper in one spot.  I decided to finish up using Zip Dry which worked much better and was far gentler on this project.

The candies are pastel Life Savers which are individually wrapped.  I put them in a medium cello bag from Stampin’ Up and tied it closed with a ribbon.

I do love making boxes!! 😀
