Why You’ll Love This Recipe

This hot artichoke dip is one of those appetizers that disappears before you can even set the spoon down. Trust me, because the whole reason there’s bread in the dish is that my husband came by and ate it before I took a photo. Then I joined him. LOL! True story.

It’s creamy, cheesy, and made with just four ingredients. Perfect for holidays, game day, or any time you need a fast crowd-pleaser. I’m planning on sharing this recipe with my in-laws on Christmas while we wait on dinner to cook.  I think they are going to love it and that you will too.

  • 1 can (14 oz.) artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

You only need 4 ingredients to make this.  Does that blow your mind?  I can tell you that I truly appreciated it because I had a lot of holiday things going on and it was ready so fast.

This recipe uses canned artichoke hearts, which makes it super quick. Curious about the different types of artichokes? Here’s a great resource on artichokes.

Notes

This recipe is by Kraft.  I’ve tried this with a different brand mayonnaise and it wasn’t as good, but feel free to put your spin on it.

This recipe is from the Kraft website.  They used a cast iron skillet for serving, which I thought was a great idea so when I made mine, I did the same thing.

Isn’t this a pretty dish?  I’m serving it with sliced toasted french bread.

Serving Ideas

Here are some other ideas, though to me, the bread and cracker ideas are the best. Let me know if you find another great match! I haven’t tried tortilla chips with it yet, but I’m figuring that’s probably awesome.

  • Sliced, toasted French bread
  • Pita chips
  • Crackers
  • Veggie sticks (celery, carrots, bell peppers)

Well, that’s how much we ate before I covered it up with some bread slices.

FAQs

Can I use Miracle Whip instead of mayo?
Yes, but it gives the dip a tangier flavor. Stick with mayo if you want classic creaminess.

Can I make this dip in advance?
Absolutely! Just prep and refrigerate. Bake when ready.

What pan works best?
A pie plate works fine, but a cast iron skillet doubles as baking + serving dish (and stays warm longer).

I served this with sliced, toasted French bread but also ate it with pita chips.  What else would you serve it with?

  1. I am so excited to try this. I’m trying to get my husband to run to the store for artichokes, but he’s not budging. I guess I’ll have to wait until tomorrow, lol

  3. I make this dip often, and it always disappears QUICKLY!! The recipe I use calls for some chopped green chiles added (like 1/2 of a small 4 oz. can). I have never added garlic, but might have to try that. I usually serve with breadsticks or triscuits… SO good. Any cracker or bread would work. Crusty rolls or baguette slices… mmm, I’m hungry!

  4. Thank you!!! I don’t even like artichokes but have tasted dip before and liked it.. This looks yummy.. I bought the artichokes yesterday and I think I will make it today or tomorrow.. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.. Thanks for all you share!!! LisaMH

  5. I make a similar dip, but instead of the garlic, I add 8 oz of softened cream cheese. I also bake a bit longer (40 minutes) as i like it to brown a bit more on top! It is a family favorite!

    1. Hi Alea,
I haven’t cooked a fresh artichoke before but I did a quick search and found out how right here! 🙂 I bet it’s delicious, even though it definitely takes longer. If you decided to go with canned artichoke, I found them in the aisle with pasta sauce.
      Happy cooking!

  6. Could this be made in one of those mini crockpots? I need a dip for a quilt retreat & this sounds delicious. Thanks.

    1. I’m not sure about that Vicki. I’ve only put it in the oven. Probably? Um…I think I’d try that at home before taking it on the retreat. I’m not positive. 😉
