Cricut Thanksgiving Cartridge Vinyl Craft Pumpkin

I noticed those bubbled areas AFTER the photo. They’re fixed now. 😉
You know how much I love these craft pumpkins, right? It’s ridiculous. I could start a big fake pumpkin patch around here. If I did, I wonder if Linus would bring his blanket and hang out? Linus and I could probably be good friends. I usually have a blanket nearby too. 😉 As I write this post, I’m covered by my Alabama blanket. Woo hoo … and Roll Tide! Ok, now we can talk about crafts.

Is this vinyl beautiful or what? Ohhh, I LOVE this color. It’s from Expressions Vinyl and I SUPER LOVE IT! Does it crack you up how I just let the vinyl roll right off of my 12×12 mat? Well, it doesn’t hurt anything and I didn’t want to measure anything or find my scissors limit myself.

I use the regular Cricut blade to cut vinyl. If you want to learn about using vinyl with your Cricut, check out my Cricut Vinylology DVD. It’s a 2 disc DVD with over 3 hours of instruction and projects.

Now the vinyl is almost finished being weeded.
I used the FLIP function on my Cricut Expression so I could have those little wheat stalks going in different directions. I also varied the sizes of them. I’ll tell you straight up that it is DIFFICULT to get the vinyl to stick to the pumpkin. I do show you how to deal with this in my DVD, but I’ll tell you that it’s about burnishing, a few other tricks and having patience. 😉 I used transfer tape on the lettering, but I put the wheat on by hand. I cut the sentiment at 3 1/2 “.

Yes, I got those bubbles out after this photo! 😉
I love the quick change that vinyl can make. Plus, if I want to peel this off and use the pumpkin some other way, it will come off without much trouble at all. Now, that’s true for this surface, but not all surfaces. Try sticking vinyl to paper sometime! That looks cool, but won’t come off. 😉
Need vinyl? I like to buy mine from Expressions Vinyl.
I must need new glasses cause I dont see bubbles. I did see real pumpkins at Kroger though that were white! they were quite striking and beautiful.
For blue of stream and blue of sky,
For pleasant shade of branches high,
For fragrant air and cooling breeze,
For beauty of the blooming trees,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee…
And for Joy and pumpkins, crafts galore
can’t wait til we can see some more!
that’s a cute, fun and easy way to decorate a pumpkin!
Beautiful pumkin!
You’ve convinced me to add Cricut Vinylolgy to my Christmas list! These pumpkins are just lovely! TFS.
I had to look really hard to see the bubbles!!! Fun and cute idea!

Thanks for the great idea! I just bought a white (real) pumpkin and two orange (real) pumpkins…I was going to use black vinyl for the typical Jack-o-lantern look…however, now I think my white pumpkin is going to be a very “cool” centerpiece for my table…Awesome!

love the pumpkin, Joy, I bet you just about have you Halloween decorations done with all the the things you’ve done this month.
I love it!!! I need to go buy some vinyl and craft pumpkins. I can’t wait to see what kind of christmas decorations you come up with this year.
I have my glasses on and I don’t see bubbles, this is so cute.
SO that’s what the “flip” function does! I always learn something new from your posts! Thanks!
Super cool project – I’m thinking black vinyl would make a very cool and mess/mold free jack-o-lantern!
The color of your vinyl is gorgeous!!! What a creative way to decorate a pumpkin (and less messy too). I am loving all your Halloween ideas. Halloween is my favorite holiday too. The decorations rock so much more than any other holiday.
Love it. I just made some vinyl cuts for real pumpkins. If you want check out my blog at http://createbyburffrau.blogspot.com. I would love to hear what you think

Nice looking pumpkin. YOu always do beautiful work. Keep the ideas coming.

I’m like you with pumpkins everywhere. Love your ideas and use themoften thanks.
I love this project. It’s so simple yet elegant. And the color of the vinyl is lovely against the white of the pumpkin.
You are too funny 🙂 I wouldn’t have noticed the bubbles if you hadn’t mentioned it. The pumpkin patch would be cute, and you wouldn’t have to worry about pumpkin smashers (those fake ones hold up pretty good, my boys have thrown one down the stairs and on the hard wood floor numerous times). Thanks for all of your great ideas, can’t week to see what this last week holds. Plus, I am hoping you do this again with a Christmas theme for December 🙂
Your pumpkin looks great! I haven’t tried putting vinyl on any curved surfaces like that. I have a feeling it’s not easy! You did a great job!
I adore this pumpkin, you make my fall decorating so much easier. You come up with the ideas and I copy your wonderful ideas. Thanks for the inspiration you share.
Your Pumpkin came out wonderful Joy! I tried Vinyl for the First time last week and it didn’t go soooo well… I also bought fake Pumpkins…. so I can decorate them every year and thought Vinyl was my answer! Well after fighting with it and trying a couple of times I went the easy route…. I mean I still used vinyl but not the cuts I actually wanted…. 🙁
I didn’t know you had a Vinyl Video…. It’s totally going to go on my Christmas wish list… because I could use ALL the Help I can get! :o)
Great idea!
Oh Joy! Vinyl makes such a difference with little effort. I put really cute sentiments in my residence (dance like no one is watching, live, love, laugh, dare to dream and smile) in different colors. well actually the boy down the hall did for me he’s much taller.
but a few cuts and the room looks different!
that pumpkin turned out great!
I just got some vinyl from Expressions Vinyl and have yet to use it. Of course I forgot the orange. 🙁 I more had Christmas on the mind and doing a remembrance vase for my mom. Your pumpkin turned out great.
angel hugs

I need to get out and get some pumpkins to decorate. Love this. I need to order more vinyl. Thanks for sharing Joy!
