Sometimes I get so overwhelmed trying to find just the right thing for someone’s birthday that I’ll actually miss the occasion. Isn’t that awful? Two weeks ago, I missed my sister-in-law’s birthday because I was out of town and I didn’t have a plan or any cards on hand. Pitiful. I ended up sending her a gift when I got back home, but if I keep having to do that for everyone, I’m going to go broke. Can you relate? That’s why two nights ago, I made a better plan.
I used my Silhouette Cameo die cut machine to help me make a simple box out of paper. I used this file. It was easy to assemble using just a little tape and paper. I added some rhinestones to make it extra pretty. That was the first part of my plan. The second part? Going to Walmart to buy a bunch of Hallmark cards (starting at 47 cents!!) and filling this box with them. There’s no way that I’m missing another occasion!
I made different boxes to hold cards for other occasions. Now, I just have to open the box, grab a card and put it in the mail. Easy!
I bought a good variety of birthday cards so I can grab one that best fits the person I’m sending it too. I added reminders to my online calendar so I won’t miss another date. I love that these cards were just .47 each because it allowed me to be able to stock up. When I checked out the Walmart cashier said, “I’ve got to get back there and get some of these. I can’t believe they’re only .47 for Hallmark!” Agreed!
As a matter of fact, I saved so much money that I was able to create a simple and sweet gift for my friend who’s birthday was the next day. I bought mini cupcakes and flowers at Walmart too. Those make great gifts AND you can split them up if you have several people to give to…like I do in August. August is birthday central around here. Soooo many birthdays! These thoughtful and inexpensive ways to celebrate will really help me stay on budget AND stop procrastinating. YAY!
I also bought this Hallmark wrapping paper at Walmart. It matches these cards so well! I chose coordinating cards, flowers and cupcakes for simple, themed gifts.
Being able to find wrapping paper, flowers, cupcakes and Hallmark cards starting at 47 cents all at Walmart is a great way to stay on budget and deliver a thoughtful gift without breaking the bank. YAY to that!
I used mason jars tied with ribbon and lace to create simple vase gifts that are easy to carry and reusable too.
What simple gift ideas are your favorites?
What a great way to stay organized in an eye pleasing way! I need to try this stock up method with 47 cent cards because I’m forever forgetting birthdays. #client
