Tim Holtz Fabric Mod Podge Metal Sign

I’ve had this metal sign for about 4 years.  It’s about time I got it out of the closet and used it for something!  I originally bought it so I could decorate it with vinyl but in all the years I’ve owned it I’ve never found the right design for it.  I was THRILLED when Tim Holtz came out with a fabric line because it helped me finally decide what to do!

I’m using Tim Holtz’s Eclectic Elements 5″ Charm Pack fabric to give my plain sign a great new look!   I used my rotary cutter to cut the pieces to fit within the sign’s border.

I applied Mod Podge to the sign and laid the fabric on top.

After I had all the pieces Mod Podged to the sign, I applied Mod Podge to the top of each piece too.

After the Mod Podge dried, I covered the edges of the sign with painter’s tape.  Then, I took the sign outside and sprayed it with Krylon UV-Resistant Clear Acrylic Coating.  I did that because I wanted an added layer of protection for the fabric, since I plan to use heavy duty magnets on it.  Now, it’s all dry and ready to hang in my craft room!

I can’t wait to show you how I’m using it in my craft room!  I’ll show you how I re-did my craft room soon you’ll see it then for sure!

Here’s another of my favorite projects using Tim Holtz’s awesome fabric (also in my craft room).
