Chocolate peppermint coke cake made with only two ingredients. This easy holiday dessert is moist, rich, and topped with a cool peppermint buttercream and crushed candy canes. A simple Christmas cake that comes together fast and tastes incredible.
1 Baking pan, 9" x 13" You can also use two nine inch round pans.

12 ozcanCoca Cola
Icing Ingredients
1containerButtercream icinghomemade or ready made
½tspvanilla extract
½tsppeppermint extract
Crushed candy canes for topping
Instructions
Pour a box of your favorite cake mix into a bowl.
Pour in one 12 oz can of Coca Cola.
Stir the two ingredients together.
Pour the batter into a greased pan.
Bake according to the instructions on the cake mix box.
Make your icing by adding ½ teaspoon of vanilla and ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract to your favorite buttercream icing recipe.
Crush candy canes and sprinkle them over the top of the iced cake.

This cake stays very moist, so a sheet cake works better than layered cakes. It slices more cleanly after it cools completely. You can switch up the flavor by pairing different sodas with different cake mixes. Chocolate mixes work well with Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero or Cherry Coke. White and yellow cake mixes pair well with Sprite or Fanta. The peppermint flavor in the icing gets stronger overnight, so the cake tastes even better the next day.I reach for these 9" pans all the time.
