Learn to Make Book Covers with Extra® Gum - Free Cut File

Hey friends!  Have you all seen the new Extra® 35-stick pack of gum?  It inspired me to create this craft because of two things, it now has more gum and it has new durable, recycled packaging that is awesome.  It’s perfect for throwing in my purse since it won’t get smashed, ’cause I carry a lot of stuff, and perfect for a desk drawer at work, home or away at school.  Having more gum in each pack means that you have more to share!

Since my daughter is away at college, I created this studious stack of books to house the new Extra® 35-stick pack!  I thought it would be a fun way for her to display and give the new Extra® 35-stick pack.  You can make these book covers easily!!  I have created a free file for Silhouette Cameo users AND have the measurements below for everyone too!

I used the Silhouette’s print and cut function to create my book covers, but you can use the file I provided above to cut your covers out using your choice of cardstock or paper.

Don’t have a Silhouette Cameo?  That’s not a problem!  Grab your favorite paper and cut it to 7 – 3/4″ wide and 4 – 3/4″ high.  Next score (or fold) the paper at 3 – 1/2″ from either side.  That will create the spine of the book where you can write your book title.

If you’re using print and cut, you’ll add what you printed to the mat and the Silhouette will use registration marks to gauge where to cut your project.

Here’s a tutorial specifically about how to use print and cut and how to adjust patterns and use fill color.

This is perfect!  My daughter is a meteorology student, so I’m making these for her to both keep and share with her friends at college.

These are so easy to get ready to give!  Simply add adhesive to one side of the book cover and close it over the gum!

I decided to make another book cover because I wanted to keep one of these for myself.  LOL!  I already got into a piece.  I LOVE the new packaging!  It really is easier to share, which is great because I’m always giving away pieces of gum.  I much prefer pulling out this nice pack instead of what usually ends up smashed in my purse.

I picked up Extra® Gum Spearmint and Extra® Gum Polar Ice® at CVS.  It was easy to find the new Extra® 35-stick pack in the checkout line.  I love our CVS, it’s so convenient.  We shop in there all the time!

How cute are these book covers with the new Extra® 35-stick pack of gum?  So cute!  They would be perfect in a “thinking of you” care package for a college student or even as party favors for a graduation party!  I plan to leave mine unadorned, letting them live happily in my purse, just waiting for the next time I need gum for myself or a friend!
