Want to know the easiest way to get motivated to clean your bathroom? Put pictures of it on the Internet. There. That should get you moving. LOL! I know it helped me. I said in the title of this post that I was coming clean about my bathroom AND keeping it real. Do you want to know how real? Let me just show and tell you. This is an actual photo of my bathroom two days ago.
OH. THE. SHAME.
Um. I have no defense. That’s a hot mess. I even came home and threw that bag in my sink because I had no counter space left. It’s full of Tilex® Mold and Mildew Remover but we’ll get to that in a minute. See that box on top of that brown case behind that red bag? It’s for the curling iron I just bought. I have no idea how to curl my hair. I tried a You Tube video and then burned my hair. So, I’m trying heat products next and trying the whole curling thing again. That being said, this counter is covered with only my stuff. DH doesn’t have anything but a toothbrush in the holder on the counter.
What’s even worse than my ignoring that mess for days is the fact that it took only 10 minutes to clean it up. Why did I keep putting it off? Ridiculous! Whatever. It’s lovely now! Except…the story of my messy shame actually DOES get worse. I use a cleaning service every two weeks. However, I cancelled the last cleaning due to our crazy “end of the school year” schedule. So, guess what else happened since the last cleaning? Mold and mildew. Gross. Just gross. Mold can grow in as little as 48 hours in the right conditions. All it needs is a moist, room temperature environment and an organic food source for it to feed on. That’s why mold can be especially prevalent in places like bathrooms and basements. Yuck!
Now we’re keeping it a little too real. LOL! Here’s part of a shelf that I have in my shower just as I sprayed Tilex® Mold and Mildew Remover. Does your bath or shower look like this in places? Mold and mildew doesn’t have to be a dirty secret. You are not alone, just look at my shower! 100% of homes in the U.S. have mold! You can spot mold in your home as black stains in your grout or red stains on your shower curtain. Mold appears as discolored patches. Any time you spot mold it’s time to disinfect. When it’s not me cleaning, I sit Tilex® out for my cleaning service.
I was so impressed that I had significant results after 5 minutes without scrubbing! (Yay! ‘Cause I hate to clean.) That’s 5 minutes less than it took me to clean up my mess on the counter. Yep. I used it on my counter at my sink too. I have some cracks in my grout and I did scrub there but was really impressed with the way this worked! For really tough mildew, there is Tilex® Mildew Root™ Penetrator and Remover. It can be used on tile (glazed and unglazed ceramic), tubs, sinks, counters, shower doors, vinyl curtains, glass, plastic, no-wax floors and windowsills. I’m trying that on those tough spots next! Tilex® has made it so easy, that I’ve been spraying my shower each time I walk into the bathroom now. I just spray it and leave. Hey, I don’t want to take time to clean but I do have time to let Tilex® do it for me. Work your 5 minute magic Tilex®!
Well, I kept it real and shared my mess. Now that it’s all cleaned up, I realize that it wasn’t that big a deal to tackle. What messes do you need to tackle in your home?
