Vinyl Embellished Santa’s Sleigh & Presents from Cricut Made Boxes

Poor Plain Santa

This Santa, sleigh and reindeer were given to our family years ago.  We’ve put it out every Christmas, but have only stuck little stuffed animals or Christmas cards in the sleigh.  This year it occurred to me that I could make some little gifts for the sleigh with the Tags, Bags, Boxes Cricut cartridge so Santa wouldn’t look like he just got robbed would look more festive.

Using my Gypsy, I was able to easily position 2 of these boxes on one 12×12 piece of cardstock.  I cut out about 16 boxes, scored them on all on their score marks, then folded and glued them closed with a permanent adhesive tape.

After I made all the boxes for the back of the sleigh, I decided to vinyl the sleigh up a bit. I added an initial to it using the Lyrical Letters cartridge. The “D” on the left is covered with transfer tape.  I used that to help me apply the “D” to the sleigh.

I was really happy with the way that turned out!  What an improvement.  Then I looked at it some more…and I decided that it was still missing something.  😛 So, I went back to my Cricut and Gypsy.  Using the Home Decor Cricut cartridge (sleigh) and the Serenade cartridge (reindeer), I found some pretty designs that would make the sleigh and the reindeer a bit more visually appealing.

So, I went from this:

To This:

Yay!!  A total revamping of a boring empty sleigh into something cute for the holidays!

Thanks to my Gypsy and my Cricut!!

  3. Love the idea! A further idea might be to number the boxes and put a treat in each for the kiddies–like an Advent calendar!
