I have had styrofoam cones in my crafty stash for years.  I cannot tell you how glad I am to finally be using them, especially in this cute and easy craft!  I’m not only finally using these cones, but also whittling down my excessive stash of ribbon.  I feel like I will never get rid of all of the ribbon I have, so any good crafty idea where I can use ribbon, makes me super happy!

Supplies:

You’re only going to need a few things to make a simple ribbon cone Christmas tree.  You need a glue gun, Gorilla Hot Glue Sticks, ribbon and a styrofoam cone.  Don’t have a styrofoam cone?  No worries.  You can also make a cone out of poster board or an empty cereal box.

Did you know that the Gorilla Glue company now makes Gorilla Hot Glue Sticks?  They’re new!  I just tried them for the first time and I really like them.  They’re weather resistant, for indoor and outdoor use, and are ALL TEMPERATURE!  Yes!  They are safe for both high and low temperature glue guns!  How awesome is that?  I think it’s great!  The Gorilla Hot Glue Sticks also have 45 second extended working time and they work on hard to bond surfaces like metal and glass.  Wanna try ’em?  Look for them at Walmart!

I’m using the Gorilla Hot Glue Sticks on low temp since I’m working with ribbon and styrofoam.  Grab your favorite ribbon and beginning gluing from the very bottom.  Actually, you could start at the top.  That might even be a better idea, because you could fold the ribbon from the tip over and cover it as you glue down.

Whether you start gluing from the top down or the bottom up, just keep going.  This is a small cone and it used a little more than one glue stick, probably a stick and a half.  Your glue usage will vary depending on how heavy handed a gluer you are.  LOL!

I thought that this simple ribbon cone Christmas tree looked pretty almost right away.  I love it’s texture and rustic appeal.
