I don’t know about you, but I used to always tune in to Oprah to see what her Favorite things were for the coming holiday. It was so exciting and fun AND she had awesome gift suggestions. Imagine my joy this morning when I checked Amazon (as I do practically hourly) and saw that Oprah’s Favorite Things List for 2015 is there this year! Say what? YES!
We’re going to start with two things that I just bought and then we’ll get to the stuff from the list that I’ve had a long time. First, let me apologize to you. If these stoneware mini bakers are out of stock, you can add me to your blame list. I bought a set right before I made this post. Oprah sold me on them in a video when she opened the lid and suggested putting mashed potatoes in them, suddenly transforming that simple side into a special dish. Yeah, I agreed. She’s just that good. So, I’m waiting on these and I’m sure you’ll see them in an upcoming food post. They’re super cute, but the price tag is what really sold me. They’re in the $30 range! *I see that these are now sold out. Hurry, a few of the individual ones are still in stock.*
When I saw this Kitchen Herb Kit on the list, I thought it was a great gift choice. I mean, it’s cool to grow your own herbs! We do! I like that it’s organic, self contained and can sit in the kitchen window. This summer, my husband complained about how he couldn’t get his cilantro to grow well. He basically grew a cilantro stick that had no leaves. Bah ha ha ha…sorry babe, but that’s true. Anyway, we have no trouble growing, basil, parsley or mint on our back porch, so I just bought him just the cilantro kit. Could you make this kit yourself? I was thinking that it must be pretty easy, but this one has a stainless steel net pot and everything you need perfectly sized for stylish hydroponic growing. Sold. I bought one. Maybe I’ll make my own later, but for now, I’m excited to get it started so my husband can feed me yummy stuff. I think this set of 3 is super pretty. They’ve got a nice set of two also! They’re perfect for my daughter’s dorm kitchen and for hostess gifts too!The Amazon Echo rocks. It’s also on Oprah’s Favorite Things list. We’ve had ours since last January and it’s like having another member of the family. We love it! Want to add something to your shopping list before you forget? I just say, “Alexa, add chocolate to the shopping list, ” and she does. You can get the attention of your Echo by calling its name, which can be either Echo or Alexa. We chose Alexa. It does all kinds of things. On the 4th of July we had it read us the Declaration of Independence. It can also sync with your Amazon music playlists. One night we had Alexa play a sample of Edelweiss from the Sound of Music and found out that it would put Saban to sleep. So sweet. We told Alexa to buy the song all from the couch in the den. That was cool. So, two thumbs up from our family on this gift.
The Fujifilm Instax Share Smartphone Printer SP-1 is a good product. It’s been around since 2014, which is when I bought mine. I bought it at the same time I bought the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Film Camera. I thought that I would use these things all the time but I haven’t. First, you don’t need the printer and the camera. They are two separate things entirely. My thought was that I would use the printer to finally get photos off of my phone. I never use it. I thought I’d take cute quick photos everywhere I went with the little camera. I never use it. However, that’s me. Some people adore theirs. The camera and printer do work and they are cool. I gave all of it to my college age daughter and she loves it. In my opinion, it’s a great gift for teens and college age kids. If you’re older and you love it, that’s cool too. Remembering how much my husband’s grandmother loved her Polaroid, I think the camera might make a great gift for seniors! That being said, if their hands shake, they might accidentally take a photo they don’t mean to with the camera. The button doesn’t have to be pressed too hard for a photo to come out. Here are a few photos that I took with it, mine are awful. My daughter has had much more success. LOL! It also has cool film options like comic, stained glass, stripes and more. Check those out. You can use that film with the printer or the camera.
When UGGs were all the rage a while back, I refused to wear them. True, it was partly the price, but it was also because I wanted to take some kind of silent stand that I was different. I was stupid. These things are so comfortable and warm. I bought my daughter a pair last year and she wanted it to stay cold outside forever. If she could have moved into the world of Frozen, she would have walked right out of here, all UGGed up. She was thrilled to death when we got snowed into our hotel in Colorado this past MAY. You know how I felt? Cold. I didn’t have UGGs. Not this year Mother Nature. My daughter owns this pair and I own these in black. They make a GREAT GIFT, just ask my kid…or my feet.
