I can’t believe that we’ve had Saban a year already!  She turned one on April 21 but she came home with us on Father’s Day last year.  Saban is the first dog that we’ve had in a long time.  It has been a great year full of learning for our whole family.  It’s been fun too.  She’s my furry BFF.  (She also plays soccer with me which I think it so cool.)

One of the things I learned this year was that I needed to change my attitude about taking her out to potty.  We trained her to go in one certain place in the yard by walking her on a leash to that spot all year.  It’s kept our yard clean and now she can be off of her leash and know exactly where to go.  The tough part was taking her out each time.  Instead of being annoyed by the chore, I decided to work in playing ball and running around with her during some of our times out.  That ended up keeping both of healthy and happy.  I think it bonded us even more.

We also make sure to protect her from fleas and ticks using PetArmor Plus IGR.  Did you know that fleas can transmit tapeworms and that ticks can carry the bacteria that cause Lyme disease?  Ok, I knew that about ticks but I had no idea about fleas.  How gross is that?  Ick.  Tapeworms?  Blah!!!  Just…no.  Let’s keep that from happening for like…forever!  I like that this one box has three applications.  They last for 30 days each, so this box will take care of the whole summer.  YAY!  More information about ticks can be found at TickEncounter.org.

Before you buy PetArmor Plus IGR make sure that you know your dog’s weight and consider your dog’s age.  Puppies need to be at least 8 weeks old.  Saban uses the one for dogs that are 89-132lbs.

Make sure not to split tubes between dogs, each dog needs their full application to be applied.  Buy the right product for your pet’s species.  The one I bought is just for dogs!

The directions are simple.  Hold the tube with the notched end pointing up and away from the face and body. Use scissors to cut off the narrow end at the notches along the line. Invert the tube over the dog using the open end to part the dog’s hair.  Squeeze the tube firmly to apply all of the solution from the back of the neck to a point midway between the neck and tail.  Easy!  Make sure to only apply PetArmor Plus IGR 30 days following the last flea and tick application.  PetArmor Plus IGR is available at Walmart and Walmart.com.

I’m glad you mentioned to buy a product meant for your pet’s species. Topical dog flea/tick treatments can kill a cat!

    P.S. Saban is beautiful!

    1. Hi Kathleen! Thanks so much for commenting about the species being important. I’ve never mixed dog/cat treatments but until recently I had no idea that it was so dangerous to do that! I hope that the information gets passed on to others who also might not be aware! Awww, thank you so much for the Saban compliment. 🙂 Arf! 😉
