Every year I wrack my brain trying to come up with a great gift for my husband. Finally, I thought: action movie theme! I decided to give him some DVD’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and The Italian Job because THAT will make a great gift for me and the kids to give him this Father’s Day. I’ve already got it all planned out. I’m going to make his favorite Italian meal, vegetable lasagna, to go with the Italian Job. Then I’ll give him this adorable (I mean manly) gift basket holding entertainment for the whole family. YAY! He’s going to love it!
I have to tell you that I can’t stop talking about this gift. Why? Because everything including the DVD’s cost me less than $25. I couldn’t believe it! When has Father’s Day ever been that simple for me? Um…never! I picked up a container, water guns, popcorn, M&M’s (my husband’s favorites), novelty glasses and the DVD’s. I chose the novelty glasses and water guns to help theme the gift for action movies. You can just add those things to the container and that makes a great gift! I decided to do a few extra things.
I decided to print and cut some fun themed images and sayings to go along with the action movie theme. I got these Superhero Action words, imported them into my die cut software and printed and cut them using my Silhouette Cameo. I attached the signs to skewers and dowels using tape and Glue Dots.

How fun is this idea?! I bought that disguise for .99 at Walmart and covered the “Novelty Glasses” wording with “My Secret Identity”. I just taped it on using my ATG gun. I love that! I mean, Jack Ryan probably uses one of these in Shadow Recruit, right? I haven’t seen it yet so don’t tell me. (I’m sure he does though. LOL!) I used print and cut again on the “World’s Greatest Dad” image. I punched a hole in the top and ran a ribbon through it.
Easy for You, The Perfect Gift for Dad
Do you need some more filler ideas? Consider adding Dad’s favorite canned drinks, a fun t-shirt, a can coozie, grill lighters or a picture of the kids holding a “Dad” sign. Now when Father’s Day comes all I have to do is make the meal, hand him the gift basket and then we can all relax and dine with a double feature. YAY!
How will you celebrate Father’s Day for the man in your life?
