Cricut Halloween Gift Bags with Martha Stewart Spiderweb Punch

I love a simple gift bag!

Creepy Spider…Creeeeepppyyy Spiiiiderrrr….

My youngest son recently had a b’day.  I made these cutely creepy little gift bags out of (as you can plainly see) some simple white lunch bags.  I keep those, plus some red and blue ones, on hand throughout the year.  On the 4th of July I use all three colors to line some little red, white and blue tins I have that I put silverware in.  So cute!  Really though, one of my favorite uses for them is last minute gift bags.  Plus, if you use white ones and give a food gift it makes it look all bakery like.  (Well, if you really imagine, LOL.)

To Make These Bags I Used:

  • Cricut Cartridge: Doodlecharms (spider); Wild Card (Thank you)
  • Punch: Martha Stewart Spiderweb Punch; Marvy Scalloped Square punch
  • Ink: Colorbox Pigment Brush Pad in black; Martha Stewart Copper ink pad (to outline spider)
  • Pens: Silhouette Pens – green (outline Thank You)

You know what I put in those bags?  Gross stuff.  Individually wrapped gummy candy in the shape of body parts and bugs.  Disgusting…and terrific! 😀  I also added some plastic vampire teeth for good measure.

Did you notice that I said I used Silhouette Pens in green?  I DID!!  I bought some of those and used them in my Cricut and they worked!! Awesome!  They fit in just like the Cricut markers, but they are pens.  They give a much finer line.  I LOVE THEM!!

I also used my Gypsy which made the outlining with the pen SOOOO much easier.  I guess you could do the same thing with Design Studio.  I’ve never tried that.  My experience using the Gypsy for some marker/pen action was AWESOME!!  I just put the pen in (just like you do the Cricut Markers) and using my Gypsy, I had it write out “Thank You” from the Wild Card cartridge.  Then I just removed the pen, put in the blade, hit cut again and it went right back to all the correct spots to cut.  So much easier than just using the Cricut with the pens alone and trying that. Here’s the tutorial for using Cricut Markers though, just in case.

Like those spiderwebs?

  1. oh my gosh that lettering looks so cool! I’ll have to save up for some of those pens-too cute. Love the spider even though I actually hate spiders. 🙂

    1. Those pens are super fun! My DH hates spiders too (and I’m not a big fan either)…every time I cut one out with my Cricut…I cut an extra and put it on his keyboard. 😛 Hee hee hee… We also get MUCH fun out of those plastic spiders. Once he put it on top of the towel I had hanging over the shower, so it fell on me when I pulled my towel down. Nice. I gave him bonus creepy points for that.
