Cricut Explore Air 2 Unboxing and First Look

Hi friends! I recently purchased the Cricut Explore Air 2 and wanted to share this unboxing and my first look at the machine with you.

Cricut Explore Air 2 Unboxing and First LookBut first, let me make something clear…

Why I Don’t Accept Free (or Discounted) Cricut or Silhouette Machines

I want you to know something up front. I don’t work for Cricut, which is pretty obvious if you read this review.  I pay for all of my Cricut (and Silhouette while we’re on the subject) machines, supplies … all that stuff, myself. I do that because I want to be able to give my honest opinion about the product, and if someone gives you something, it’s hard to not to have positive feelings about that, that’s natural. I do create sponsored content, but you’ll see my disclosure statement about that at the beginning or sometimes the end of posts, here’s an example. Oh, I have done giveaways for different stores where they gave me a cartridge, which I disclosed.  I’ve also created a few Cricut posts, like this one, for a friend, where she gave me the cartridges, but I declared that in those posts too.  So…

Once More with Feeling

I bought this machine myself.  I don’t work for Cricut (or Silhouette),  I just work for me.  I’m not an affiliate for either, but I do affiliate my links via Amazon, where I have shopped since 1999.  I love you, Amazon.

So, let’s get on with it!

Cricut Explore Air 2 Unboxing and First Look Video

In the video, I mention that I bought this machine at Joann.  Fact.  Here’s where I loaded it into my trunk after my husband hauled something in it that left those dark marks.  Sad.  I would have purchased the Cricut Explore Air 2 from Amazon, but at the time I bought this one, they were only in stock at Joann.

I also mention my Silhouette Cameo 3 review.  You’ll learn how it compares to the Cameo 2.  Want to see how the Cameo 2 compared to the original Cameo?  Check out this review.

I hope you enjoyed this unboxing!  Follow my YouTube channel to stay updated on what I release.  I usually release videos there before they go live here.

Happy Crafting!

  1. Nice video, Joy.

The Explore Air 2 is definitely one of the most satisfying things I’ve unboxed this year!

The machine is a worthy upgrade, imo. From extended use, it seems more reliable and accurate than the previous model.

Perhaps that was our older Cricut deteriorating, but either way… very happy with this machine so far.

    1. Alice, that’s great to hear! I look forward to using it more!

I have been looking to purchase a new machine I am using the cricut expression right now. Well I was I recently moved and am missing some pieces for my cricut like the original blade housing. I found my deep cut but not the green one. Can you tell me how I can get a replacement. I tried the cricut website but there out of stock. So I have been going back and forth on the explore air 2 and the cameo 3 but I have all these cartridges and a gypsy and I hate to see them go to waste. So I guess I am asking your opinion on the two machines what is your first choice.

    1. Hi Elizabeth,
I’m not sure where to find the green housing. I looked around online and I couldn’t find one either. I would probably just use the deep blade and dial the blade back to 1. Regarding the Cricut Explore Air 2 vs. the Cameo 3, I prefer the Silhouette Cameo 3. However, I think it boils down to the software and which one you like the best. You can go to Silhouette’s site here: https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/setup/en/cameo-3 Skip down to Step 3 and download the software. That way you can see if you like it. Here’s a post that I wrote about the Silhouette Cameo 3, that might help. https://joyslife.com/new-silhouette-cameo-3-compared-silhouette-cameo-2/

You might also take a look at the Cricut Maker. I really like that machine and it’s Cricut’s newest release. You can try out the Cricut software here.

      I hope that helps! 🙂
