Color Ribbon with Copics

How much do I love that I can color my ribbon to match my projects?  I love it A LOT!  I was working on a project last night and didn’t have the right shade of ribbon, but I did have the perfect shade of Copic marker for my project.  I just colored some white ribbon and then ran it under my hair dryer to heat set the marker.  TA DA!!!  Colored ribbon!! 😀  Some of you might wonder where I buy my Copics.  Right now I’m picking them up individually at Hobby Lobby.  Copics are expensive, about $7 each, but they do work that is beyond mere mortal markers. 😉

My friend told me a place where she found the cheapest place to buy these. oozak.com has these markers at $4.15 per marker. Free shipping on orders over $50 which buying these won’t take long. Check it out 🙂 Now…have you tested it really good to make sure it doesn’t rub off?

    1. Hey Sheryl,
After I dried the ribbon with my hair dryer (a heat tool is probably better…also not holding it with your fingers keeps you from getting burned from prolonged heating…I knew better and used my fingers anyway…not smart) ANYWAY…after drying the ribbon it was completely heat set and did not rub off. YAY! 😀

  3. If you use your 40% off @ Hobby Lobby the Copics are only 3.89! I’ve just started buying them and I drive right by HL everyday so in a couple weeks I should have enough to get started. Also, OMC has them in 12 pc sets that come to 4.05 each after their 10%.

  4. Very cool!! Must have!! Thx for sharing and thx for the great 40% off tip Lisa D!

  8. I have done this before too:) I have to say the few copics I have are the best markers I ever bought.

I also get mine at hobby lobby when they have a 40 percent off coupon week I go in a couple of times a week and get two or three:)

  9. Cool, I’m gonna have to try this!

  12. I sometimes buy mine at Hobby Lobby using a 40% off coupon, but I’ve found this website to be a good deal, especially if you can “go in” with a few friends: http://www.carpediem.com. They are $4.87 each and right now they are offering free shipping on all Sketch orders over $50.

  13. I love your new stamps, Joy! I’ll get mine real soon as you
    might have already guessed.
Glad you figured out the heat gun thing for setting the color.

  14. As always you have th best ideas! I have been wanting to buy some of these marks for the longest…but could not justify getting them since I have only seen crafters use them for drawings,,,,,,but this is another reason to have them so I think I can justify getting them now (smile)

Joann’s has some pretty good prices on line for sets of Copic’s.
I just have two but have one ordered from crop too and plan on getting more but want to decide which colors I want first.

  16. Great Idea! Thanks for sharing! I often run into the problem of not having ribbon to match my project, this will solve that problem.
