When I got up today I thought, “Ahhh…a lovely winter morning.” I was sipping coffee and considering relaxing in front of the fireplace because, as I write this, today is Saturday. Then I remembered, the boys have hair appointments at 10, a basketball game at 7 tonight, my husband wants to start decorating for Christmas and we still need to clean the house. That’s how sipping coffee leisurely turns into gulping coffee and entertaining the idea of starting another pot. Then, I came up with a simple plan. Since we’re running around crazy most of this cold winter day, I’d make sure that we took the time to look at each other face to face across the kitchen table and enjoy a meal. Something simple, something fast and something we all love, chicken pot pie. Of course, I don’t have time to make that from scratch but that’s okay because Marie Callender’s pot pies now come in Family Size. Yes!

Later that day…back from haircuts, one son is already sitting at the kitchen table.  I put the pot pie in when they left.  It takes 1 hour and 35 minutes to cook.  I timed this just right!

With the recent cold-front moving through, pot pies are the perfect comfort food to warm you up.  Homemade gravy mixed with vegetables and all white-meat chicken, in a golden, perfectly flaky crust that’s made from scratch.

You know what happened here, right?  Correct.  I asked if I could get a quick picture.  I’d like to just say…men!  The truth is that if my daughter was home from college, these photos would be even sillier.  That’s just how it is at my house.  What can I say?  I love it!

First, how many times do I have to say, put the napkin in your lap?  Then I go to take this picture and little brother decides to attempt this move for laughs.  So, be glad the pie is family sized.  Just sayin’. 😉

We’ve been fans of Marie Callender’s Chicken Pot Pie for years.  I keep the individual servings on hand for the boys so that when they’re hungry and want something fast, they have something warm and filling as well.  I really like that we can all share a pot pie together without me having to make four or (when my daughter is home) five individual ones.  Family sizing this pie was a great idea!  Clearly, my family thinks so! 😉

I found my Family Sized Pot Pie at Walmart!  I’d been running around all day and was so grateful they were open 24 hours.  Whew!  I love being able to fill my list, even when it contains unrelated things, all in one place!

    1. Thank you, Sarah! 😉 I have to say that our dog, Saban, did not get any pot pie. She needs a pup pie. LOL! I’m cracking myself up here. 😉 I really did enjoy the convenience and taste of a family sized pot pie. I’m going to get another one to keep on hand!
