3D Cardstock Floral Birdcage with Xyron, Petaloo and Core’dinations

Welcome to the Xyron, Petaloo & Core’dinations blog hop.  You’ll find new projects each day from October 20 – 24 on the Xyron blog.

I’ll admit it.  Initially, I was challenged with this blog hop.  I rarely use flowers in my projects. Then I opened the Petaloo Spring Darjeeling and Printed Darjeeling flowers.  They were so pretty and had such a nice texture.  I really liked them and I started to form an idea.  To start, I could always add flowers to the top of a birdcage, that would look pretty, I thought.

So, I used the SVG Cuts Christmas Ornaments kit and cut out the birdcage using my Silhouette Cameo.  I used cardstock from Core’dinations’ Tim Holtz & Ranger Distress Collection.  Since you can sand this Core’dinations paper, I decided to emboss it using my Cut ‘n Boss and the Teresa Collins Bella Rose embossing folder.

Isn’t it amazing how much texture is revealed once the embossed areas are sanded?  I love it!  I used the Teresa Collins Twill Herringbone embossing folder on the birds.

Next, I got a great idea!  It occurred to me that the Petaloo flowers could look like feathers.  So, I used some Xyron Adhesive Dots to attach those lovely flowers to the bird.  Now he’s fully feathered!

The Xyron Sticker Maker and Xyron 5″ Creative Station made quick work of adhering all of these pieces.

Working with these lovely flowers took me outside of my crafty comfort zone…

…and I love what I made.  Isn’t that bird beautiful?

Don’t be afraid to incorporate things into your projects that you don’t usually work with.  Use them in unique ways or learn new techniques.  You will grow creatively when you do!

I hope you enjoyed my project!

I created this project while participating on the Xyron Design Team.  I received products from Xyron, Core’dinations & Petaloo for the purposes of this project.
