13 Rocks!! Pop Rocks & Cricut

I wanted to make something cute for my nephew when he turned 13.  I had seen some versions of this “rocks” idea and another hilarious one that uses suckers for things like “40 sucks”.  Too hilarious.  The others I’d seen just had a tiny sign on a toothpick or straw that was one dimensional.  I wanted to really jazz it up.  So this is what I did.

I used the Celebrations cartridge for the numbers & star, Lyrical Letters cart for the “Rocks”.  I stole some wooden skewers from DH, LOL, to stand everything up.  I had to cut most of them in half with my trusty kitchen scissors.  Then I taped them to the back of the pop rocks and the signs with clear packing tape.  I used Cuttlebug Folders Swiss Dots and Spots & Dots.

I had some styrofoam left from another project, so I put that in a plastic Chinese takeout soup container after lining the inside with a sheet of Dollar Store colored tissue paper.  I also covered the styrofoam by putting tissue paper over the top of it and securing it with the skewered candy and sign.  The outside is covered with a blue sandwich bag (I like to keep different colored ones on hand.) cut in less than half size and secured with that “Happy B’day ribbon”.

I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.  I can see making more of these in the future.
